Study Abroad
The purpose of academic mobility programs’ development is improvement of the quality of education and mutual understanding between various cultures and people.
The academic mobility gives opportunity to the students, graduate students and young scientists to continue education or to gain scientific experience abroad by participating in the short-term educational or research program. Programs of the international academic mobility include the international student's exchanges, conferences, seminars, short-term programs, summer and winter schools, internships.
The academic exchanges are carrying out according to contracts between SPbPU and partner universities, agreements with international companies, funds and other organizations.
The organization of this work is carried out by the Department of the International Academic Mobility (DIAM).
General information Eligibility criteria: Students of SPbPU, Bachelor students (not earlier than 2 year), Master students (not later than 2nd semester), good command of the English language or the native language of chosen University. Step by step instructions: Please follow this procedure:

Step 1. Choose 2-3 Partner Universities

Step 2. Discuss this possibility with head of your study department/program coordinator.

Step 3. Fill in the request and hand it over to DIAM.

Step 4. DIAM carries out whole nomination procedure and informs students about Partner University’s decision.

Step 5. In case your candidature was approved you start the application process
check the details of application process on the web-site of chosen University

Step 6. Right after you got the invitation letter/letter of acceptance from chosen University prepare following documents
- Departure notification
- Copy of the invitation letter (you got from chosen University to obtain the visa)

Step 7. Show signed departure notification to the room №202, IMOP (Mrs. Olga Bedryagina). Get the referral for SPbPU semester payment.

Step 8. Pay for semester and apply for Russian visa prolongation at rooms №112-113 at the left part of IMOP building

Step 9. After Russian visa is prolonged, you can apply for the visa of your exchange semester country.

Step 10. Enjoy your exchange semester, but nevertheless pass exams.

Step 11. Within 3 working days after arrival from exchange semester provide DIAM with the following documents:
- Arrival notification
- Report in free format about your study abroad (in English)

Deadlines for applications:
- pring semester –15 October
- autumn semester –15 April
The submission of documents on participation in conferences/seminars/internships is carried out by students independently or with the assistance of student’s/PHd’s department according to the terms determined by host University or to specified event requirements.
Before departure
All students/PhDs leaving for conferences/seminars/internships must provide to DIAM the following documents in 10 days before departure.
1. As participant:
- Departure notification
- Copy of the invitation letter
- Departure notification
- Expert judgement
- Copy of the invitation letter
- Administrative note for group departure
- Copy of the invitation letter
After arrival (within 3 working days after arriving):
- Arrival notification
- Report in free format about your study abroad (in English)
The submission of documents on participation in Summer and winter schools is carried out by students independently or with the assistance of student’s/PhD’s department according to the terms determined by host University or to specified event requirements.
Before departure (10 days before leaving):- Departure notification
- Copy of the invitation letter (you got from chosen University to obtain the visa)
After arrival (within 3 working days after arriving):
- Arrival notification
- Report in free format about your study abroad (in English)
